In a hidden corner in Riyadh where experimenting with camera, film, light and color is transformed into experimenting with a variety of Asian dishes,  this is the story of the love for photography and food combined and displayed in the most tasteful manner. Inspired by the darkroom, black & white film , red light exposure, line hanging wet photos, the design of Kimyona takes you through an unforgettable journey from a street-side gallery through the hidden door into a cozy dimly-lit dining room, where your sensations are awakened by a seven-section menu of the most delicious dishes.

KIMYONA was born out of a passion for travel, photography, and the diverse flavors of Asian cuisine. Inspired by the captivating and intricate art of analog photography and the development of the perfect photo, we envisioned creating a restaurant that pays homage to both Asian culture and the art of creating the perfect dish.

The name KIMYONA is derived from the Japanese word for “curious, incomparable, and excellence,” and those words are exactly reflecting the way we manifested our concept.

We believe that a great meal is not only about the food, but the entire experience - from the moment you step into our restaurant to the last bite of your meal. We wanted to create an environment that is both visually captivating and allows our dishes to shine as the true heroes.

But KIMYONA is more than just a restaurant. Our interior design takes inspiration from the world of photography and darkrooms, where light and darkness play important roles in developing the perfect image. In the same way, we use light and darkness in our restaurant to emphasize each dish’s beauty and create a truly immersive dining experience.

“But KIMYONA is more than just a restaurant.”
